Intimate, magical, and otherworldly are three words that could be used to describe Rhye’s performance at Myer Horowitz Theatre in Edmonton. In May the musician released a critically acclaimed album “Spirit” and recently embarked on a six city Canadian tour. Rhye’s music is a beautiful blend cinematic elements like strings fused with beautiful vocals and songwriting. Popular songs by the musician include “Open,” “The Fall,” and “3 Days.”
Rhye performed in the beautiful Myer Horowitz Theatre alongside a large band who played the keyboard, guitars, drums, and strings. One of the most moving moments of the night was when he requested the venue to turn all of the lights off before proceeding to play “Taste” in the dark. Clearly moved by the moment, the crowd was so silent throughout the song that anyone would be able to hear a pin drop. Other top moments of the night included when he performed fan favorite “Open” alongside the string section and his banter back and forth with the crowd instructing them to stand up or sit down.
