On Monday, March 11th, I had the chance to catch pop musician tiLLie open for alternative synth-pop band Cherry Pools at The Echo in Los Angeles. TiLLie just released a new killer EP “LOUD MOUTH” which contains four dance-worthy, glittery pop songs that all promote girl power.
With fluorescent orange eye makeup, holographic platform shoes, and enough energy to excite thousands, tiLLie had the entire audience wrapped around her finger throughout the duration of her set. Between chatting with the excited young girls in the front row in between songs to absolutely killing it with her vocal ability and guitar skills, tiLLie made her performance feel both intimate and epic simultaneously.
Before playing her track “Hungover On A Feeling”, she explained she wrote the lyrics after feeling like she woke up from a bad dream when Trump was elected as president which was met by a cheering crowd. Other top moments of the night included her glittery cover of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and her girl power anthem “whole wide world” which is off her new EP.
TiLLie’s performance was without a doubt one of the best sets I’ve seen from an opening act in a very long time. Her set reminded me of Halsey’s performances at the start of her career. The artist’s natural ability to work the stage with her beautiful music and talent, make tiLLie a musician you definitely want to keep your eyes on. I have no doubt that she is going big places.
TiLLie has many tour dates coming up over the next month which can be found here. You can follow the artist’s journey on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. A photo gallery of the night and her music are included below!
