Alison Wonderland and Dillon Francis are two of the biggest names in electronic music. They recently teamed up on their bass-heavy killer track ‘Lost My Mind’ and are now on a co-headlining tour, fittingly called the Lost My Mind Tour. I had the chance to catch their show over the weekend at Stubbs Amphitheater in Austin. The night was full of heavy bass, high energy, and incredible performances by both artists.
The musicians rotate who closes out the night since it is a co-headling tour and Alison Wonderland was opening the night I attended. The second the fiery AW symbol lit up the LED screens, the crowd was instantly immersed in her world, or her “church” as she welcomed fans into. Kicking off her set with the track ‘Good Enough,’ the Australian artist showed off her classical musicianship as she played her cello, creating a bond with the crowd that felt both cinematic and epic.
Standout moments from her set included ‘Run’ which she explained she added back into her set after getting so many Twitter requests, her remix of Ariana Grande’s track ‘God is a Woman,’ and she closed her set with ‘Awake,’ accompanied by her cello once again. Her ability to flawlessly mix multiple genres, the high energy she brings to her sets, and the genuine love and passion she has when it comes to creating a special experience for her fans is what sets Alison Wonderland apart from other DJs.
After Alison Wonderland, Dillon Francis took the stage and delivered a high energy, bouncy set full of piñatas, crazy visuals, and dancing. Before Dillon stepped onto the stage, the crowd was brought together by singing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’ The artist kicked off his set with the high bpm track ‘Not Butter’ which sent the crowd into party mode. Highlights from his set included the rainbow colored piñatas being thrown into the crowd, his dad jokes, and mixing ‘Get Low’ with ‘I Want It That Way’ by the Backstreet Boys. Live videos of the crowd were integrated into the visuals throughout the set which created a further immersive experience.
As if their two separate sets weren’t enough to please fans, Alison and Dillon ended the night with a 20 minute B2B. They finished off the night by playing their newly released song ‘Lost My Mind,’ which left everyone excited and grateful for the night.
The Lost My Mind Tour continues this week with stops in Columbus, Detroit, and more. Tickets and info can be found here. If you’re a fan of electronic music, this tour is a definite must-see. A photo gallery from the night is included below!
