After driving across the country in a van over the span of a few days, cleopatrick was greeted by beautiful Vancouver weather and a wonderful group of fans when they finally reached the west coast. The duo, which is made up of Luke Gruntz and Ian Fraser, just wrapped up a European leg of their tour and Vancouver was the first stop on their North American dates.
Earlier this year I interviewed cleopatrick and we chatted about their music, how growing up in a small town in Ontario influenced them, and what else they had in store for fans this year. 2018 was a breakout year for the duo, they played Lollapalooza, sold out shows across Europe, and released a killer EP ‘the boys.’ After seeing all of the hard work Luke and Ian put into revolutionizing how rock music is defined, I was so excited to be able to see them perform live.
Playing at Biltmore Cabaret in Vancouver to many fans who knew every single word to every song they performed, cleopatrick expressed their gratitude and appreciation several times throughout their set, explaining how cool it was to drive across the country and have friends on the west coast. The band performed my two favorites ‘hometown’ and ‘bernard trigger’ as well as other tracks from their EPs ‘14’ and ‘the boys.’
Throughout cleopatrick’s set I felt like I was being let in on something special… something that is going to be big. It could be a combination of the intimate venue, the high energy the boy’s brought, and their down-to-earth nature that made me feel like I was witnessing something amazing before the rest of the world. cleopatrick is changing rock music and I suggest you join them for the ride.
