As a huge fan of experimental music, I fell in love with slenderbodies’ music the second I heard it.  The California-based duo consists of Benji Barsochinni and Aram “Max” Vehuni and was formed in 2016. If you’re a fan of Glass Animals, Radiohead, NoMbe, or TENDER, I’d definitely recommend checking the duo out.

If I had to describe their music in one word it would use the word textured. An elixir of electronic, rock, and pop, slenderbodies’ music is so textured you will pick up on a new sound every time you listen to it. Whether I’m looking for something chill to listen to while working or I want the perfect album to accompany me on a roadtrip, slenderbodies’ music is always on heavy rotation. It just feels like driving with the window down at sunset and feeling the warm breeze on your skin.

Over the weekend, Max and Benji performed at ACL on Saturday on the HomeAway Stage. They pulled a great-sized crowd for the early set time of 12:00 pm and the sweltering heat. Their lively and groovy performance made the crowd forget about the hot weather; instead of melting to the hot sun, we were melting to the sun AND melting with slenderbodies’ music. I left the set overhearing many impressed comments about how much they enjoyed Max and Benji’s performance.

After Highly Suspect’s lead vocalist Johnny Stevens experienced a last-minute injury reslting in a cancelled set, slenderbodies were selected to take their set time later on Saturday afternoon on the coveted American Express Stage. Although they had a short time to prepare, the boys blew the massive crowd away with another breezy performance.

I had the chance to meet Max and Benji after their second performance and snap a quick photo of them which was definitely one of my highlights of my weekend.

With two killer ACL performances in one day under their belt, I hope to continue seeing slenderbodies on festival lineups next year. You can follow the duo on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and check out their music below!
