Music covers can go one of two ways; covers can be done exceptionally well and can give the listener an entirely new perspective on a song or they can go very very wrong and will make the listener immediately revert back to the original song. Racoon Racoon’s rendition of the classic song ‘The Sound Of Silence’ by Simon & Garfunkel is a cover that falls into the first category.
Following the release of their beautiful sophomore EP ‘Dawn Chorus,’ the French duo shared their inspiration behind the emotional cover.
“We tried to give the track a very raw but fragile feeling, a soft and intimate vibe with powerful harmonies.”
The track will pull on your heartstrings; it’s quiet, slow, and haunting. I won’t be surprised when I hear this song being played in an emotional scene in a film or tv show. Their beautiful harmonies add a sense of depth to the song that I didn’t know was possible.
